My name is Eric Zwiebel and I have been the Cellar Master at Summer Lodge since July 2004. Born in the beautiful province of Alsace in France, an area world famous for its Rieslings and Gewürztraminers, my affection for wine began at an early stage. My parents owned a restaurant and I used to help them in my spare time. To broaden my knowledge, I decided to move to the United Kingdom in 1999. Two years later, I was admitted to the Court of Master Sommeliers. In order to stay abreast of the developments in the wine world, I constantly participate in competitions and trips to wine regions of the world. In 2004, I won the UK Sommelier of the Year competition. In 2006 and 2008, I had the great honour of taking third place and being France’s sole representative in The Best Sommelier of Europe Competition. In 2007, I participated at The World’s Best Sommelier Competition where I was a runner-up and in 2013, I was placed fourth. In 2018 I pass The ASI Certificate and I Highest score of the year and I was he First English Candidate to do it.
