Franco Giacosa was born in the province of Alba, Piemonte. In 1966 he graduated from the School of Oenology in Alba and in 1974 he received his degree in Economics and Commerce. The following years he worked in Wine Cellars in the province of Asti and in Sicily and from 1974 to 1997 he worked for the winery ¨Duca di Salaparuta spa¨ as Quality Control and Bottling Manager. He was the very first winemaker in Sicily who demonstrated the qualitative potential of the indigenous grape variety of Sicily ¨Nero D`Avola¨. Since 1997 up to today Franco Giacosa was invited by Mr G.Zonin to create a Quality Improvement Project for the family vineyards with a high viticultural vocation and situated in 7 different regions of Italy. Presently he coordinates and directs Europe`s largest team of winemakers, which includes 18 enologists and 14 wine technicians and agronomists.
